This is a very hard to find reference book on Japanese Netsuke. The book is signed by Eskenazi “With best wishes from one collector to another” June 1993. This book is in almost mint condition. One defect (see Photo) is the back dust cover wrapped slightly around the hard cover…very miner a few millimeter. With 200 pages this Netsuke reference book has a ton of full color pictures of amazing Japanese art.Forward by Luigi Bandini. Impressions of a Netsuke by Jacques H. Carre. Netsuke and Japanese Dress. By Susan-Marie Best. Two Thousand years of Shinto ritual by Rosemary Bandini. With many other noted experts. Also has a wonderful index of Netsuke signatures. p>We seek out feedback both positive but especially negative so we can learn and grow. We operate two separate web sites. A beautifully bound large book with over 100’s of the best photographs I have seen. The book is absolutely mint not a mark on it. The hard jacket has two small defects: one a little nick on the spine of the hard dust jacket (see photos) and a small portion where the plastic that adheres to the cover of the book. This is part of the manufacturing process. The book itself in mint state with no defects
The author has chosen 100 of the finest examples of netsuke and discusses them in detail, with photographs. Those who already have an interest in netsuke will welcome this opportunity to study these seldom-exhibited objects. Those unfamiliar with this uniquely Japanese form will be delighted by these small works, which demonstrate so well that artistic energy and interest are not dependent on size. Published: second printing 1975. Compiled by Mr. Bernard Hurtic and Published by John Weatherhill. New York. We seek feedback both positive but especially negative so we can learn and grow. We operate two separate web sites. The second features a lower price point and to provide from time to time surprise bargains.
